A beautiful handmade DIY Mother’s Day Gift that she’ll actually love? Yes, that is the plan today! As a mother, I can attest that I love literally everything my son gives me (but I just have the one and I’m all in on him 100%, LOL!). But seriously macaroni necklaces and handprints can only carry so far if you really want to impress her!
So, to help you out, here I am offering a super quick, easy, handmade, DIY project that mom will love. For all of these, you can order supplies from Amazon or make a quick trip to your local craft store. I’ve listed all the supplies (and some alternatives) that you’ll need.
Easy & Lovely Flower Wreath
First up, we have this VERY simple wreath that can be made with whatever her favorite flowers are – and it will last! Faux flowers aren’t what they used to be – ugly dust magnets! No, these days they are so well made they can be mistaken for real flowers!
For this project you only need a few supplies:
- A 10″ ring (or an embroidery hoop, or any other circle shape)
- Faux flowers, you’ll need between 3-5 large ones for the wreath pictured.
- Kit: Wire cutters, Wire, Ribbon or floral tape
- Hot glue gun & glue
Instructions
- First up, use the wire cutters to cut the flowers off the bunch, leave several inches of stem for wrapping with wire.
- Next, take your first flower and wrap it with wire several times, then lay it against the wire circle and begin wrapping the wire around. It is easiest to leave the wire on the paddle and just go round and round rather than unwinding it. Do this rather tightly to secure it.
- I then take a bundle of leaves, hit them with a dab of hot glue and then wrap them tucked right under your first flower.
- Proceed with your next flower following the same wrap technique. With the next 2 flowers, I switch direction so the heads are creeping up the other way, it’s a personal preference I just like the way that looks. So you’ll have 2 facing left and 2 facing right. You’ll just keep wrapping and tightening until all the flowers and bunches are attached. Then you can clip the wire and twist/pinch the end to secure it.
- Fluff it at this point and see how you like it. Fill in any gaps with extra leaves using hot glue and more wire if needed.
- Once you have it how you like it you will use the ribbon or floral tape to hide your hot mess of wires and glue. Start at one end and just wrap it around – moving flowers and leaves out of your way as you go. I use a dab of hot glue every few inches to secure it, or over an unruly bunch of wires.
- Tadah, you are done!
