Hey, I’m Alison!
I’m a creativepreneur* and recovering professional. I am the happy owner of Piece of My Heart Studio. On this site, you can tag along and explore my love for being a creator, DIY’er, crafter, flipper, maker, cook, figure-it-out-er.
I am a mother to the most amazing kiddo ever, and wife to a very patient husband. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and live in beautiful Portland, Oregon.
I fled my career at mid-life to pursue doing what I loved instead, wanna join me?!

Living The Midlife Dream
At 45 I gave up my “career” to start living my dream. Believe me, you are never too old – or too anything– to live the life you want. It’s scary as hell but I have NO REGRETS. NONE. If anything I only wish I’d done it sooner! And I’ve learned some stuff that I can share with you!
This blog, this creating, is my therapy. I use the creative process as a kind of meditation where I get lost in something for hours. Creating from the heart makes me feel the feels, all warm and fuzzy, and proud.
You can also use your creativity to find your happiness too and I’m here to help you on your journey! If you love creating things – like say, crafts, recipes, home decor – and you want amazing results that are appreciated – getting oohs and aahs -then you’ll feel right at home here.

Things I Love & Believe In
I love my kid, my husband, my family, and my friends, my home, and creating memories. I love the simple joys in life and learning to appreciate each precious moment. I love nature, sunlight on water, the beach, freshly mowed grass, wind blowing and all things mother nature gifts us. I love people! I like talking to people, helping people, making people smile, easing the life for people I know, and for total strangers!
I love creating all the things, junkin’, handmade beauties, upcycling, figuring out how to do stuff, side hustles, beautiful wood (haha that’s what she said), building props, preserving and cherishing vintage treasures, flea-market-flipping, upcycling discarded treasures, French stuff, farmhouse, and rustic industrial bits, cozy blankets and things that are hygge!
I believe in kindness, community, respect, decency, helpfulness, taking care of one another, tenderness, loyalty, cooperation, equality, honesty, love, acceptance, sharing, gratitude, and all the other moral lessons I learned from my family and Little House on the Prairie!
