Craft Your Wedding! Of course those of us who are crafty want to DIY many parts of our weddings. I know I did – way back in 1997! But at that time we didn’t have all this dang technology and easy access to awesome fun ways to be creative and craft your own wedding decor. I spent over $300 creating a 4 picture collage sign-in board! We had to reprint the pictures from negatives (yup) and blow up and crop them – but now you can reprint, edit and make amazing photographs in minutes! We had a professional cut the mat for us after we effed up the first one. And the frame of course. Today I would have whipped that out in under an hour and added custom lettering!

DIY’s that break the bank

One of the reasons I wanted to open a shop is to provide a space and all the tools and supplies for people to DIY to their hearts content without having to break the bank. DIY’ing always sounds cheaper than it usually winds up being! You buy all the materials, and then buy some more because you effed up the first ones. Then buy the tools that you will likely only use once. And you spend hours trying to figure it out and having craft fails all over the place. Then you end up just buying it! #craftfail

But let’s say you are determined to make some gorgeous giant paper flowers for your wedding backdrop. I love giant flowers too and they are on trend right now. So you set out to make a bunch of paper flowers. Abbi Kirsten Collections has amazing paper flower tutorials to inspire you.

This is what it could cost you:

• $250 Cutting machine like a Cricut(because seriously hand-cutting that many flower petals would be ridiculous!) But you could do it by hand by printing a template and using scissors if you have nothing but time on your side!
• $12 paper scissors
• $25 Paper blossom rolling mat and tool kit
• $50 on paper @ $14 for each color pack of 65# cardstock
• $15 glue gun & glue stick sets – and if you want help, which you will, you better buy a few sets!

So you’d spend at least $100 if you did it by hand with scissors and with the cutting machine even more. Plus you’d have to figure out how to do it, what you’d need, show your helpers, get all set up, make a huge mess, get frustrated, leave the mess, go to happy hour and then just buy some big paper flowers (#craftfail).

Now imagine instead, you show up at our shop with your friends and some wine. All the materials and instructions you need are on hand and ready to go. All you do is crack open the wine and get to crafting with your friends. The petals are cut, the glue guns are fired up, the mess is left behind! Sounds amazing doesn’t it?
